Trial, parts 5-8 and (almost) the conclusion

From an email we received on July 1:

After many months and many trips to the courtroom...Praise God with us!!!!
We hadn't even sat down after the judge entered the courtroom when he declared Guy innocent! It was about a 20 second process and it was over! We are rejoicing along with the Eshelmans that this process is finally finished. The prosecution has been given 10 days to make an appeal, but Guy's lawyer does not think that the verdict will be appealed.
We left the courtroom with a prayer of thanks to God for this victory.

Dear Friends and Family who pray, July 13, 2009

It looks like the story is not yet over … nor is our job of bringing each chapter in prayer to the Author of Truth and Justice, always watching to see how He unfolds His gracious plan!

This morning, I was officially notified that the prosecutor’s office has filed for an appeal of Judge Martin Deda’s decision (which found me not guilty of the charges that had been filed against me).

Thus, a new legal process is set into motion. I don’t know yet, what all this will involve, but I wanted to let you know and to ask you to pray.

As you can guess, based on our experience so far, it’s likely to drag on for some time. I’ll continue to keep you posted as this thing unfolds.

Apparently this kind of thing is not unique to my case. I’ve heard that in the current Albanian legal climate; nearly all cases are appealed by the prosecutor’s office. Although I knew that this was a possibility, I was hoping not to become part of that statistic.

We are disappointed, but remain convinced and assured of a higher purpose and plan in all of this. One of you said it well in a note to us last week, Just because you have been found not guilty in court, it “doesn't mean that we can drop our guard. The enemy is working full time.”

May God’s Spirit be free in all of this to accomplish what only He can do, and to give us wisdom, peace, joy, and strength to do our parts!

His, for them,

Guy

So we will wait and pray and see what God has in mind...
